Les vignes

Chitry le Fort, located in the canton of Chablis, half way between Chablis and Auxerre (12 km) within the department of Yonne in the Burgundy region of France, is a very traditional wine-producing Auxerrois village. In 1993, it was awarded the right to associate its wines with the Burgundy appellation under the name “Bourgogne Chitry”. This appellation includes white, red and rosé wines alongside a remarkable Bourgogne Aligoté.

Les vignes

Nestled at the bottom of a valley and surrounded by slopes planted with grapevines and cherry trees, this village boasts an astonishing 13th century fortified church, flanked by a huge tower which protected it from pillaging during the wars.

As connoisseurs of fine wine, you are very welcome in Chitry, but the warmest welcome awaits you in our cellars, open 7 days a week all year round.

The marl and limestone rich kimmeridgian soils give the white wines coming from the Aligoté and Chardonnay grapes, which are grown around Chitry, their unique quality.

In addition, certain sheltered slopes, planted with Pinot Noir, produce fruity and elegant red wines.
